Individual Therapy

People come to therapy for many different reasons.   The decision to pursue therapy can stir many feelings including anticipation, fear, and hope.  It can be difficult to admit that something feels overwhelming, stuck, or painful especially when you are unsure how to change it or do not fully understand it.  Sometimes you can identify the struggle you're having as depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem.  Other times it may be less clear, but you find yourself in a pattern of unsatisfying relationships, disconnection from your body, or experiencing feelings of emptiness.

I have a deep appreciation for the experience of human suffering and the potential it has to transform us.  When we expand awareness of our feelings, thoughts, and relationships, suffering can diffuse and transform, allowing for different perspectives, more abundant options, and greater flexibility and strength to make changes and live in new ways.

It can be difficult to turn toward whatever it is that overwhelms, confuses, or frightens us, especially on our own.  Left unexamined, however, suffering multiplies, draining life of its joy.  Psychotherapy is a powerful process by which to explore and transform your suffering.  The relationship you build with a therapist can help you access the courage to shed light on your feelings and experiences.  I will help you engage in this exploration and deepen your understanding of the many parts that make you who you are.  Together, we'll work to discover what really matters to you and how you can cultivate the freedom to live a more fulfilling and connected life.

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked...The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
